Murska šuma is a lowland floodplain forest that stretches along the Slovenian-Croatian-Hungarian border. The nearest settlements are Pince Marof and Benica. Murska šuma mostly consists of deciduous trees. Many bird species can be found here and that is why this area is one of the most important ornithological areas in Slovenia. It is also rich with backwaters of the Mura River. Bobri is one of Mura’s longest backwaters. The Bobri backwater became famous for its pile dwelling. The Bobri pile dwelling was made in 1963 by the locals and the surrounding community entirely of wood by hand. Today, only piles can be seen protruding from the water.
